The Salome’s Heart Annual Appeal

Your donations to Salome’s Heart support our mission to help individuals with developmental disabilities, their families and caregivers, and the dedicated people who educate and support them.

Stories of Salome’s Heart

The Reymann family watched Salome as a community activist – caring for her family, her neighborhood, her church, and her community. Salome showed us love in action and how to be gracious in giving, that we may receive tenfold.

Who Was Salome?

Known for wearing an apron – always ready to greet and feed family, friends and strangers alike – Salome Reymann was a hard-working woman who immigrated to Ohio from Alsace-Lorraine. In 1906, she married fellow immigrant Charles Reymann and settled in Akron. Charles and Salome raised 16 children, teaching them all the meaning of “love your neighbor as yourself.” We want to embody Salome’s kindness and inspire others to join our mission.

Salome: The Ultimate Caregiver

Salome lived her faith by treating others with kindness – strangers and neighbors and especially family. Two of Salome’s grandchildren had special needs. She and Charles were strong and supportive advocates for these grandchildren as well as others with special needs in our community.

We encourage you to follow Salome’s example as told in these real stories. Look into your heart to continue her mission. Help the Reymann Foundation give hope to people with developmental disabilities.
